Take Away My Way 2013

One of our pupils Jamie Lee was shortlisted as one of the finalists in this year’s ‘Take Away My Way’ schools cookery competition organised by St Angela’s College, Sligo and sponsored by Safefood. The competition, now in its third year, is designed to help students think about healthy eating and provide them with the skills to create healthier alternative take away dishes. The competition is open to all secondary schools on the island of Ireland.

Jamie Lee’s recipe of Heated Chicken Salsa Tortillas was shortlisted from over 1,000 entries this year, a record number for the competition which challenged the students to cook healthy, home-made, low-cost versions of their favourite takeaway dish.

Jamie Lee attended the final in Sligo on Wednesday and was accompanied by Isabella, Anthony, Veronica, Ms Keane, Ms Doherty and Mr Cassidy. He prepared his dish and presented it to a panel of expert judges, including award winning chef Neven Maguire.

We are all really proud of Jamie Lee for getting to the final stages of an all Ireland competition. It is often said that it is not the winning but the taking part that counts and in this case it is definitely true. Well done Jamie-Lee.
