World Autism Awareness Day 2013
The sixth annual World Autism Awareness Day takes place on Tuesday, April 2nd 2013. This day has been declared by the United Nations in order to highlight the need to improve the lives of children and adults with Autism.
"This international attention is essential to address stigma, lack of awareness and inadequate support structures. Now is the time to work for a more inclusive society, hilight the talents of affected people and ensure opportunities for them to realize their potential." Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Message for World Autism awareness Day 2013.

Every year on World Autism Awareness Day, groups around the world hold fundraising and awareness-raising events. This year in Letterkenny there are a wide variety of events taking place, organised by the Autism Family Support Group.
2nd April 2013
Autism Awareness Family Fun Day in Letterkenny Town Park from 2pm-6pm. Activities include a live broadcast from Highland Radio with Lee Gooch, a sponsored walk, balloon walk and launch, children's obstacle courses, face painting and bouncy castles.
There will be a Table Quiz in the Voodoo Green Room (which will turn blue for the occassion) with spot prizes on the night.
There will be a Flag Display on Letterkenny Main Street and the Cathedral lights will turn blue at 10pm.
13th April 2013
Autism Awareness Fun Day in the Letterkenny Shopping Centre. Activities include a variety of children's entertainment, clowns, puppet shows, balloon-making, special guests and a Grand Draw.
15th April 2013
Free viewing of Temple Grandin Movie in Century Cinemas Letterkenny at 8pm.
27th April 2013
Gabrielle's Diary Charity Ball at the Central Hotel, Donegal Town.
