The preschoolers had a surprise when they came into the classroom. Ms Keane had left in an enormous box. At first they didn't notice it but before long the children were climbing in, some tentatively, others confidently. The box then became a rocket and the children counted down and blasted off many times visiting Mars and the moon before returning to Earth. When it came to outdoor playtime the 'rocket' had to come too. The double doors had to be opened as the 'rocket was too tall to come out a little door.' Once out in the playground other classes came over to view the box and they too went to the moon and back several times before snack time!! Great imaginative, collaborative, open-ended fun.
